Event organized by the UNYDs of Romania: the conference “Youth participation” alongside Social Impact Awards – Timisoara, Romania / Eveniment organizat la Timișoara
Andrada C. Baba and Aurelian D. Mohan organized a workshop on the SDGs in Timișoara, on March 15. The event, entitled “Youth participation”, focused on disseminating information about the United Nations, the Agenda 2030, and the UN Strategy on Youth.
The United Nations Youth Delegates designed the aforementioned event – with a limited number of participants – in order to test the youth’s ability to understand the international role of the UN and evaluate their knowledge about the SDGs.
Moreover, in the second part of the event, Andrada și Aurelian trained the participants to properly assess a country’s capability to achieve the targets pertaining to the SDGs. In addition, they discussed about youth empowerment and representation; exempli gratia, the young people from Timișoara now know how the UNYD mandate works, what mechanisms allow young persons to interact with decision-makers, and the type of changes required in Romania in order to fully implement the Agenda 2030.
The aforementioned event was organized with the support of Social Impact Awards – a youth NGO that is concerned with social responsibility. The president of the Council of Institutionalized Children took part in the event and discussed with the participants about various setbacks young people face during their lifetime.
